Questions and answers
What is Baton Rouge Fence Company?
Baton Rouge Fence Company is a referral service. We connect Baton Rouge homeowners with a local fence installer. We don't do the work — we route your request to one installer who does. We do not measure, price, or build fences ourselves.
Do I pay anything for the referral?
There is no charge to you for the referral. If you hire the installer, your quote, contract, and payment are between you and that installer.
How much does a fence cost in Baton Rouge?
Published ranges for installed fencing around Baton Rouge run $10 to $20 per linear foot for chain link, $15 to $30 per linear foot for wood privacy, $20 to $43 per linear foot for vinyl, and $30 to $50 per linear foot for aluminum or steel. These are not quotes; a real number comes from an installer measuring your yard.
What does a 150-foot fence cost?
Multiplying the published ranges by 150 feet gives about $1,500 to $3,000 for chain link, $2,250 to $4,500 for wood privacy, $3,000 to $6,450 for vinyl, and $4,500 to $7,500 for aluminum or steel, before gates and removal of an old fence.
What should a fence quote include?
It should list four things separately: footage & layout, old-fence removal & haul-off, materials & posts, gates & hardware. A single lump sum makes it hard to see what is included or to compare two bids.
How do I measure for a fence?
Walk the line where you want the fence and add up each run — along each side, across the back, and any return from the house to the side fence. A rough total is enough to check a quote against; the installer will measure exactly.
Which fence material is best?
It depends on the job. Wood privacy and vinyl block the view; chain link is the low-cost choice for keeping pets in; aluminum or iron-look fencing suits front yards and pools. If you are torn between two, ask for both on the same footage and gates and compare.
Wood or vinyl for a privacy fence?
Published ranges put wood privacy at $15 to $30 per linear foot and vinyl at $20 to $43 per linear foot. Wood starts lower; vinyl does not need staining or painting. Asking for both on the same quote shows the real difference for your yard.
How many gates do I need, and how wide?
Think about what you carry or push through the yard — trash cans, a mower, a wheelbarrow, a trailer — and where. Measure the widest thing that has to fit. Each gate is its own line on the quote, and a drive gate costs more than a walk gate.
Should I repair my fence or replace it?
If the damage is isolated — one post or a few boards on an otherwise solid fence — repair is usually the call. If posts are leaning or soft in several places, replacing a section or the whole fence may make more sense. Walk the whole fence before deciding.
What should I do after a storm knocks my fence down?
Stay clear of any downed power lines, secure pets, and photograph the damage before cleanup. Whether a policy covers fence damage depends on the policy — ask your carrier.
Do I need a permit for a fence?
Ask your installer who pulls the permit. Ask before the quote is signed, so it is clear whether any fee is included.
Does the price include removing my old fence?
Not always. Old-fence removal and haul-off should be its own line on the quote. If it is missing, ask whether it is included, excluded, or billed separately.
